I teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, and I supervise PhD students in education and rhetoric. My main research interest concerns the subject Pedagogical rhetoric, which investigates what we do with our spoken words and how the spoken words influence us in pedagogical situations. Pedagogical rhetoric aims at increasing our knowledge of the teacher´s responsibility to support a pedagogical relation. Pedagogical rhetoric considers the ethical dimensions and the emotional aspects of our verbal language. The aims of this study concerns how to understand and problematize challenges and dilemmas related to policies on teacher professionalism and evidence-based education. Why the policy emphasis on evidence-based education and academisation of teachers? For the study, we analyse official policy documents at national and local policy levels. Preliminary conclusions: Policies supposed to solve the problem with decreased quality in Swedish education are enacted in reforms directed to the teaching force, with the aims to transform education along rational and linear views on evidence-based knowledge.
