I hate to be referring to over and over again, but – you know – I’m a bit obsessed with it because it’s awesome, and besides – almost everything you need to know about me and Yellowtrace can be learned . Hence, those of you who follow along would’ve seen that the crew checked into Copenhagen’s latest boutique design hotel . We had such a great time staying there, apart from a  that happened in the middle of our first night there. Truth be told, the evacuation experince was super fun and hilarious for those of us who were still having a night cap at the bar – we spilled out onto the street with cake and drinks in hand, and laughed the whole way along. However, I dare say this experience was not so excellent for the ‘retirees’ who had already gone to bed – serves them right for wasting time sleeping. Puh-lease. Anyway, I digress…

officially opened in April this year, featuring 118 brand new beautifully designed rooms, all of which are deliciously furnished. The hotel is situated in Copenhagen’s , previously the arty Hotel Fox, with interiors completely overhauled by Danish architect and designer . In addition to it’s 118 rooms, the hotel also accommodates two bars, a gym, a private cinema, and two restaurants (one of which is called Cocks & Cows – yes really, I mean doesn’t everyone want to eat a bit of… WHAT? Where were we?). On the ground floor, an open plan lounge area and a small television and library den adjoin the reception, which also doubles as the bar and café. The entire ground floor of the hotel is cleverly done – the space feels warm, inclusive, communal, and it goes off between the hours of 5-6pm when the hotel serves complementary drinks. Very cool.

The name SP34 is an abbreviation of the hotel’s address at Sankt Peders Stræde 34, chosen because it’s easy to remember. Brilliant. The Hotel combines undiscovered mid-century Danish furniture with contemporary touches, reflecting the physical environment and atmosphere of Copenhagen’s Latin Quarter. The interior both preserves and focuses on the building’s original architecture, while embracing the bohemian neighbourhood of high ceilings, cool restaurants, vintage shops, churches, bars and a university milieu.

Below are some of my “awesome” iPhone shots (translation – “awesome” = not awesome) because I think the hotel feels even better in person then it does in these PR shots. See even more in the gallery below.
