Houses Awards 2014 Shortlist | Yellowtrace

Oh we do love a bit of design awards action here at Yellowtrace HQ, don’t we? How could we not – design awards are the celebration of good design and passionate people who make it all happen, which is pretty much what we try to do around here every single day. It goes without saying that the Houses Awards shortlist which was announced last week once again piqued our interest.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again many more times I’m sure – Australian architects and interior designers are really, really, ridiculously good at designing houses. Our industry is consistently nailing that shit over and over again. There are always exceptions to this vast generalisation of course, but we are here today to promote the good in order to combat the evil. Indeed, it comes as no surprise that The Houses Awards Shortlist for 2014 is full of exceptional projects.

Anyway, let’s not beat around the bush – below is a selection of some of my favourites from this year’s 120 shortlisted projects across 8 different categories. Congratulation to all involved. I’m happy to confirm that Australia’s (still) got talent.

Absolutely stunning homes! Australia really does produce brilliant interior design. We loved the Hover House, the contrast of wood and glass is perfect. We have a short article on home accessories based on 2014 interior design trends that may be of interest.
