Without a doubt one of the most talked about venues during Milan Design Week 2015 was the inauguration of Nilufar Depot by Nina Yashar, founder of the famous in Milan. The 1,500sqm space displayed a rich set of historical and contemporary design objects collected by the legendary gallerist over time.

Inside the warehouse, architect Massimiliano Locatelli of CLS architetti designed a space inspired by Milan’s famous ‘Teatro alla Scala’. Enormous steel structure wraps the interiors, dividing the space into large modules interpreted as individual sets. These were filled with an extraordinary selection of vintage pieces by Albini, Perriand, Parisi etc, and contemporary objects exclusively designed for Nilufar Gallery by Lindsey Adelman, Michael Anastassiades, Pierre Marie Agin, Michele Balestra, Bethan Laura Wood, Caturegli and Formica, David/Nicolas, Martino Gamper, Massimiliano Locatelli, India Mahdavi, Nir Meiri, Nucleo, Roberto Giulio Rida, Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, Ego Vincente and Osanna Visconti di Modrone.

The word on street is that the Depot will be open until the end of Milan Expo with no certain plans for the future. Although, something tells me this space will become yet another institution on the Milan’s already-bulging-with-extreme-awesomeness design scene.
